Spicy and Sweet Cauliflower Wings
Who said vegans could not have wild buffalo wings? This simple recipe would unquestionably add some spice to your entertainment. With these ingredients you are allowed to have fun while healing your internal body, what more can you ask for. Furthermore, children love these plant-based wings and will probably eat the whole tray if you allow them to.
1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tbsp arrowroot powder 1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp sweet or smoked paprika 1/4 tsp lemon pepper seasoning 2 tbsp nutritional yeast 1/4 cup sweet and spicy BBQ sauce, Anne’s Brand 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/4 cup sweetened vanilla almond milk 1 tbsp spicy brown mustard 5 cups avocado oil, or other high heat frying oil Two large head of cauliflower, cut into large florets
In a medium-sized mixing bowl combine the flour, arrowroot powder, pink Himalayan salt, cayenne pepper, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, lemon pepper seasoning, and nutritional yeast.
In another bowl combine the Bbq sauce, maple syrup, almond milk, and spicy brown mustard and whisk until creamy.
Heat the avocado oil in a large pot.
Use one hand to dip a cauliflower floret into the wet mixture carefully, then drop it into the flour mixture. Use your other hand (it should be dry) to coat it thoroughly. Dip it back into the bbq mixture, and again into the dry mix, keeping one hand devoted to wet and one to dry.
Carefully lower the twice-coated cauliflower into the hot oil. Repeat with remaining cauliflower until you can’t fit any more into the pot. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, until the pieces are golden.
Transfer fried cauliflower to a large cooling rack with two sheets of paper towel under it to catch the oil drippings.
